Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Senior Ukrainian and U.S. officials are set to meet in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to find a resolution to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not be present at the meeting, he was in Saudi Arabia on Monday, where he held discussions with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the conflict and potential pathways to peace.
Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine will be represented by top government officials, including Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, Presidential Office Chief Andrii Yermak, and Deputy Chief Pavlo Pallisa.
The meeting in Jeddah follows previous diplomatic engagements between Kyiv and its allies, as Ukraine seeks stronger international backing to counter Russia’s aggression. The presence of U.S. officials at the talks further underscores Washington’s commitment to supporting Ukraine in finding a diplomatic and military resolution to the war.
Saudi Arabia, which has maintained ties with both Russia and Ukraine, has positioned itself as a potential mediator in the conflict. The Gulf nation previously hosted similar peace-focused discussions in 2023, emphasizing the need for a just and lasting solution.
Details of the discussions and potential outcomes are expected to emerge following the high-level strategic talks in Jeddah.
