The summit, which builds on the momentum of the inaugural 2021 UN Food Systems Summit, will bring together heads of state, policymakers, experts, and stakeholders from around the world to review progress, renew commitments, and accelerate the global effort to create resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems.

Vice President Shettima is expected to join other global leaders in discussions on advancing the transformation of the coffee value chain, a crucial component of agribusiness in Africa, as well as participate in strategic roundtables and bilateral meetings aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s ongoing food security drive.

In addition to the main sessions, Senator Shettima will take part in sideline events, including a ministerial roundtable on public finance, trade, and responsible investment, designed to explore innovative policies and partnerships for scaling up sustainable agricultural development.

Other activities on the summit’s sidelines include field trips, networking sessions, and showcases of real-world case studies in food systems transformation, with a focus on evidence-based solutions, knowledge exchange, and the role of creative expression in mobilizing collective action.

The Vice President’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to transforming its food systems and addressing hunger, malnutrition, and economic inequality through sustainable agricultural development and international cooperation.

The summit is expected to produce renewed policy frameworks, cross-border partnerships, and investment initiatives that will support Nigeria’s vision for achieving food sovereignty and strengthening its agricultural economy.
