Contract renewal negotiations between Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid have stalled, with the Brazilian forward demanding a pay package on par with new signing Kylian Mbappe, according to a report by Madrid Zone on its verified X handle.
The report stated:
“Contract renewal talks between Vini Jr & Real Madrid are now BLOCKED. The club is offering him a salary of €20M per season, but his agents believe that’s not enough, and that it would ‘make no sense’ to accept it, as he makes €17M now, and they believe a raise from €17M to €20M is too small. They want €20M+€10M in bonuses. Vini and his agents have decided to play through this season and then make a decision.”
Vinicius, whose current contract still runs for two more years, is pushing for recognition of his status as one of Madrid’s most decisive players, especially following his contributions to two Champions League triumphs and a remarkable 206 goal contributions since joining the club in 2018.
The standoff has fueled speculation among fans and analysts, with some suggesting possible interest from the Saudi Pro League and the English Premier League should an agreement not be reached.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, faces growing pressure to secure the long-term future of one of their brightest stars, amid concerns that the wage hierarchy at the Bernabéu may shift following Mbappe’s blockbuster €30 million per season deal.
