Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has made his position clear: he’s standing with President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 election — and he thinks the rest of the country should too.

“You don’t change a winning team,” Uzodimma said during a press briefing last week. “President Tinubu is working. The reforms are in motion. We need to give them time to produce results.”

The governor, a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), praised Tinubu’s efforts in tackling Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. He pointed to fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms, and renewed security operations as signs of a president taking bold steps.

“Rebuilding a country is not instant coffee,” Uzodimma said. “It takes vision, and it takes patience.”

But not everyone is sold. Many Nigerians are struggling with rising costs, a weakened naira, and high unemployment. Critics argue that whatever progress the government claims hasn’t translated into relief for ordinary people.

Uzodimma’s response? Stay the course.

“This government inherited a broken system,” he said. “Tinubu didn’t create the problems — but he has the guts to fix them.”

With this statement, the Imo governor becomes one of the first high-profile APC figures to publicly endorse Tinubu for a second term. And whether people agree with him or not, one thing is clear: the 2027 race is already taking shape.
