The United States President, Donald Trump, has announced that the U.S. military successfully carried out precision strikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—in what he called a “spectacular military success”.
In a Truth Social and X (formerly Twitter) post on Saturday evening, and later a televised address from the White House, Trump stated:
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the world that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
As the strikes’ effects ripple through the global political, security, and energy sectors, regional states and international organisations, including the UN, are urging de-escalation.
This represents a significant shift in the United States’ engagement in the Israel-Iran conflict, indicating a new degree of military commitment and posing difficult issues related to regional stability, diplomacy, and legality.
