Leaders and residents of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) have declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu beyond 2027, emphasizing that his leadership should continue for the stability and progress of the country.
At a press conference in Ajuba, HOSTCOM President Benjamin Tamaranebi stated that the 2027 elections would be a defining moment for Nigeria, presenting a choice between continuity and uncertainty.
“As Nigeria continues its journey towards economic recovery, stability, and growth, it is clear that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership has been a turning point for the nation,” Tamaranebi said. “We believe he should remain in office until 2031 to complete the developmental initiatives his administration has launched across all six geopolitical zones.”
Call for Continuity in Leadership
Tamaranebi highlighted the president’s strategic policies and reforms, which he credited for putting Nigeria on a path to prosperity. He warned against disrupting the progress made so far, stating:
“Now and then, a leader emerges who understands the pulse of the people, feels their struggles, and dares to change the course of history. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is that leader.”
He recalled the initial skepticism surrounding Tinubu’s presidency, citing economic challenges such as declining crude oil production and overwhelming debt servicing. However, he noted that the president has defied expectations by implementing bold economic policies and governance reforms.
Tinubu’s Impact on Host Communities
The HOSTCOM president commended Tinubu for empowering local communities, particularly those in oil-producing regions, and insisted that the president needs more time to complete his work.
“In 2027, Nigerians must choose between continuity and chaos; between stability and the unknown. The future is not built in four years. It takes patience, persistence, and vision. Tinubu has shown that he has all three,” Tamaranebi asserted.
He acknowledged that no leader is without challenges but maintained that Nigeria is in a better position today than it was two years ago.
Tompolo’s Endorsement
Tompolo, a prominent Niger Delta leader and the Ibe-Ebidouwei of the Ijaw Nation, also endorsed Tinubu for a second term, citing the administration’s positive impact on human development.
HOSTCOM’s endorsement signals growing support for Tinubu’s continuity in office, with community leaders urging Nigerians to recognize the progress made under his leadership and allow him to complete his vision for the country.
