President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured that the Federal Government will deploy more sophisticated military hardware and surveillance technology to combat the recent surge of bandit attacks in Katsina State.

Speaking on Tuesday at the State House, Abuja, while receiving a delegation of prominent citizens from Katsina led by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, the President said government will also strengthen the capacity of newly deployed forest guards and explore the establishment of state police.

Tinubu lamented the politicisation of the state police proposal, stressing that certain security challenges demand community-based security outfits that understand local cultures and can effectively operate at the grassroots.

“The security challenges we face are surmountable. We inherited porous borders and some weaknesses that should have been addressed earlier, but we are tackling them. I have directed all security agencies to intensify efforts and review their strategies. We have approved the acquisition of additional drones,” the President said.

He further instructed security agencies to provide daily reports on operations in Katsina, vowing that the government will not relent in protecting citizens.

“I am reviewing all aspects of security, including the creation of state police. We will defeat insecurity and protect our children, communities, worship centres, and public spaces. They cannot intimidate us,” he declared.
