Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that Lagos will host the 2025 edition of the prestigious Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards.
The governor made the disclosure on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in a statement shared on his official X handle after receiving some actors, describing the development as a significant opportunity to reaffirm the state’s unwavering support for the Nigerian film industry.
Sanwo-Olu noted that Nollywood remains central to Nigeria’s cultural heritage, economic growth, and international recognition, adding that Lagos is prepared to make this year’s awards ceremony an unforgettable experience.
He said: “This is an opportunity to show our deep commitment to the creative industry in Lagos and across Nigeria. Nollywood is a vital part of our culture, our economy, and our global identity. We remain committed to supporting the creative industry, and we are ready to make this year’s BON Awards truly special.”
The Best of Nollywood Awards, which celebrates excellence in the Nigerian film industry, will bring together top filmmakers, actors, and stakeholders from across the country and beyond for its 2025 edition in Lagos.
