Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has disclosed that the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will officially inaugurate the Lagos State Industrial Leather Hub later today, August 23, 2025.

In a statement posted on his verified X handle, Sanwo-Olu noted that the project, first conceptualised in 2020, began construction the following year at the Matori Industrial Estate in Mushin and has now reached completion.

“The hub comprises two principal sections. The first is the production area, equipped with ultramodern industrial leatherwork machinery capable of mass-producing shoes, bags, belts, and other high-quality leather products.

“The second is a commercial and business development area. This section houses shops, showrooms, training rooms, workstations, and offices thoughtfully designed to inspire creativity, foster enterprise, and support the growth of our artisans and entrepreneurs,” the Governor explained.

Sanwo-Olu emphasised that the Lagos State Industrial Leather Hub reflects his administration’s belief in the potential of Lagosians, as well as its commitment to building industries that generate employment, stimulate innovation, and boost the state’s economy.

The commissioning is expected to mark a significant milestone in Lagos’ efforts to expand its industrial base and provide a platform for leather artisans and entrepreneurs to thrive.
