Dr. Sam Amadi, known for his outspokenness on governance and human rights, stirred the pot again—this time with a tweet that was equal parts indifferent and democratic. “I don’t care if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is re-elected in 2027—if that is what Nigerians want,” he posted on X.
To some, it read as apathy. To others, it was a bold reminder of what democracy really means. In a follow-up post, Amadi explained that he wasn’t endorsing the president—far from it. But he said he respects the people’s right to choose their leaders, even if he disagrees with their choice.
“I will still speak out against injustice and poor governance,” he wrote. “But I won’t try to hijack democracy. If the people vote for Tinubu, that’s their call.”
It was a message wrapped in principle—hard for partisans to swallow, but hard to argue with. Amadi’s point was clear: you can fight for change without fighting the electorate.
