Escalating Crisis and Government Response

In response, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, ordered the immediate deployment of additional personnel and resources to the state. This reinforcement, in collaboration with the Armed Forces and other security agencies, aims to restore order, protect lives and property, and safeguard critical infrastructure.
No Tolerance for Unlawful Protests
The Nigeria Police Force has made it clear that while citizens have the right to seek legal redress through appropriate judicial channels, any attempt to exploit the situation through illegal gatherings or protests will be met with the full force of the law. The authorities are determined to prevent disruptions to public peace and security.
Citizens are urged to comply with legal directives, continue their daily activities without fear, and report any suspicious activities that may threaten public safety.
Commitment to Security and Stability
The security agencies remain committed to maintaining law and order in Rivers State. Individuals or groups intending to incite violence are strongly warned to desist, as security forces are fully prepared to take decisive action against any threats to peace and stability.
The Nigeria Police Force continues to call for vigilance and cooperation from the public in ensuring that Rivers State remains secure during this period of emergency intervention.
