Amid growing tensions between the two political camps, former presidential Spokesperson, Reno Omokri, has posted what he says is evidence that the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, emailed him his resume years ago on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
Omokri claimed that although he had originally decided to keep the conversation confidential, he was forced to make the information public after a well-known Peter Obi fan openly accused him of lying on a well-known political podcast.
He posted what looks to be a screenshot of an alleged email from Peter Obi that included his curriculum vitae and a request for participation. Online political discussions have been sparked by the news, with Obi’s supporters raising concerns about the timing and context of the announcement.
A number of pro-Obi social media users have brushed off Omokri’s tweet as a political diversion, accusing him of trying to harm Obi’s reputation in front of the 2027 election cycle, even though Peter Obi has not yet addressed the allegation.

Omokri, who has been a vocal opponent of Obi since the general election campaign of 2023, maintains that his activities are not driven by politics but rather by protecting his own honour from what he called “coordinated misinformation”.
The development has created a new level of intensity in the ongoing online verbal battles between opposition leaders and supporters of the ruling Labour Party.
According to political commentators, this most recent event demonstrates how Nigerian politics is becoming more and more personal, particularly when politicians and their supporters start to compete for attention before the next election cycle.
