Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has urged governors, ministers, and other political leaders to focus on policies and initiatives that directly benefit the poor and vulnerable in society.
Speaking on Monday night while hosting top government officials to an Iftar dinner at the State House, Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the need for selfless leadership and urged public officials to use state resources to uplift citizens.
“Continue doing what you are doing. And do more for the people,” Tinubu said, addressing governors, members of the Federal Executive Council, service chiefs, and heads of key ministries, departments, and agencies.
His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed details of the meeting in a statement titled, ‘President Tinubu Urges Governors, Political Leaders to Focus on the Poor, Vulnerable.’
Tinubu stressed that his administration remains committed to economic reforms and social welfare programs, ensuring that governance translates into tangible benefits for the common man. He encouraged government officials at all levels to align their efforts toward policies that would reduce poverty, improve infrastructure, and boost job creation.
The meeting, held during the holy month of Ramadan, provided an opportunity for reflection on governance and the need for pro-poor policies to drive national development.
With economic challenges affecting millions of Nigerians, Tinubu’s call is expected to shape policy direction in the coming months as the administration seeks to strengthen social safety nets and economic empowerment programs.
