A growing wave of frustration is sweeping through Nigeria’s education sector following widespread complaints from students over alleged irregularities in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB. According to education advocate and CEO of Educare, Alex Onyia, over 8,391 students have formally submitted complaints through verified channels, alleging technical faults, mismarked scores, and an overall lack of transparency.
In a series of viral posts on X (formerly Twitter), Onyia accused JAMB’s exam platform of inefficiency, stressing the psychological toll the confusion is taking on young Nigerians. He argued that many students are being unfairly penalized due to issues beyond their control, and called on JAMB to release each student’s detailed mark sheet showing correct answers, student choices, and grading logic.
While JAMB has defended the integrity of its exam process, pointing to improved anti-malpractice measures as a reason for the mass failure, public trust remains shaky. Parents are joining the chorus of complaints, and legal proceedings are set to begin against the examination body. For students whose dreams of university admission hang in the balance, the demand is simple: clarity, fairness, and accountability. Anything less would be a betrayal of their futures.
