The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, empowered 1,000 women and persons living with disabilities in Lagos, equipping them with tools and resources to build sustainable businesses and improve their livelihoods. The initiative was carried out under the Renewed Hope Initiative, her flagship empowerment programme.
Announcing the development on his verified X handle, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended the First Lady’s dedication to uplifting women and vulnerable groups, describing it as a driving force for societal progress.
“Her Excellency’s commitment to uplifting women stems from her belief that women are central to the progress of any society. Here in Lagos, we share this conviction, which is why we supported the programme by contributing an additional 500 empowerment items to ensure that more women could benefit,” Sanwo-Olu wrote.
The Governor further encouraged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the support provided.
“To the beneficiaries, I urge you to use these gifts wisely, grow your businesses, and in doing so, grow the wealth of your families and of Lagos,” he added.
The event underscores the Tinubu administration’s focus on empowering women and strengthening inclusivity, while also reinforcing Lagos State’s commitment to supporting grassroots economic growth.
