Newcastle United have issued an official statement following a social media post by striker Alexander Isak on August 19, 2025, which has fueled speculation about his future at the club.
In the statement released via the club’s official website, Newcastle expressed disappointment over the post but stressed that Isak remains fully under contract with the Magpies.
“We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak this evening,” the statement began. “Alex remains under contract, and at no point has any club official given assurances that he would be allowed to leave Newcastle United this summer.”
The club reaffirmed its determination to retain key players while acknowledging that players may have personal ambitions. However, Newcastle made clear that any decision regarding Isak’s future would ultimately depend on what is in the best interests of the club, the team, and its supporters.
“As explained to Alex and his representatives, the conditions for a possible sale this summer have not materialised, and we do not expect them to be met,” the club noted.
Reiterating its values, the club described itself as a “proud football club with proud traditions” and insisted that Isak remains an integral part of the Newcastle family. “He will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates,” the statement concluded.
