According to a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu formally inaugurated the new members of the Lagos State Market Advisory Council (LASMAC) yesterday at a ceremony held at Lagos House, Alausa.
In his post, Sanwo-Olu wrote:
“Today, I swore in new members of the Lagos State Market Advisory Council (LASMAC). Our markets are at the heart of life in Lagos. They support the livelihoods of millions of Lagosians and play a key role in keeping our economy strong. That’s why we’re making their development, security, and sustainability a top priority.”
He stated that markets are at the heart of life in Lagos because they support the livelihoods of millions of Lagosians and play a key role in keeping a strong economy and the reason for making development, security, and sustainability a top priority.
The governor believes “with the leadership of the Iyaloja-General, Chief (Mrs) Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, and the commitment of the members, LASMAC is positioned to make real progress”. Sanwo-Olu urged the new appointees “to be proactive, open, and fair in their work, and to always keep the interests of traders and consumers at the centre of their decisions”.
His administration wants the Lagos markets “to be safe, clean, and well-run places where businesses can thrive and customers can shop with confidence. We are supporting that goal with better infrastructure, smarter policies, and training that helps traders build stronger businesses.”
The state government’s broader goals to update commercial areas, safeguard livelihoods, and guarantee equitable economic governance throughout Lagos are furthered by the inauguration.
