The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the arrest of a 50-year-old widow and fashion designer, Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine using a fake pregnancy as cover to evade security checks.
In a statement published on its official website on Sunday, August 24, 2025, the agency said Ezewuike, a mother of one and owner of Golden Star Creation, a fashion outlet in Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos, was apprehended at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, on Friday, August 22, while trying to transport the drug consignment to buyers in Abuja.
A subsequent raid on her residence in Ago Palace led to the recovery of 200 grams of a cutting agent commonly used in processing a strain of cocaine. During interrogation, Ezewuike reportedly admitted that she inherited the illicit business from her late husband, who died two years ago, despite having run her fashion business for over two decades.
The NDLEA further disclosed that, in a separate operation, officers from the Directorate of Operation and General Investigation (DOGI) intercepted 90 parcels of “Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis weighing 48.6 kilograms. The drugs, imported from the United States, were concealed inside three cartons of kitchen sinks and seized at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday, August 19.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking and warned traffickers that “no disguise, no matter how clever, can shield them from detection and arrest.”
