The Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL) has commissioned its first-ever Virtual Reality Gaming Centre, a state-of-the-art facility set to redefine recreation, creativity, and digital engagement within the Force.

According to a statement on NAFIL’s official X handle, the Virtual Reality Arcade was commissioned on 7 August 2025 at the NAFIL Arcade in Abuja. The initiative reflects the evolving role of gaming as more than just a pastime, highlighting its potential as a tool for strategic thinking, collaboration, storytelling, and digital literacy.

Addressing attendees at the event, the National President of the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association, Arch. Dr Rakiya Abubakar, described the centre as a “vibrant hub for innovation, creativity, community, and entertainment”, envisioning it as a place “where friendships are formed, dreams are kindled, and talents are discovered.”

Highlighting the strategic intent behind the project, NAFIL Managing Director, Air Commodore Idris Suleiman, noted that the arcade goes beyond entertainment. He stressed its role as a platform for training, education, and business diversification, in line with the Chief of the Air Staff’s command philosophy of maintaining a highly motivated force through enhanced welfare and infrastructure renewal.

“The NAFIL-Oasis Virtual Reality Arcade began with the idea of boosting patronage at this facility and fulfilling part of the initial plan for its establishment. Today, that idea has become a reality, marking the first NAFIL Gaming Centre,” he said.

From casual gamers to aspiring e-sports champions, the facility aims to create job opportunities, strengthen civil–military relations, and serve as a dynamic space where imagination meets opportunity.

As the first of its kind within the Nigerian Air Force community, the Virtual Reality Arcade positions NAFIL as a pioneer in integrating modern leisure culture into military life, fostering morale, innovation, and stronger bonds within and beyond the Force.
