The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully completed a Rappelers Recurrency Training exercise at the Regiment Training Centre, Kaduna, aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of its special forces.

In a post on the official Air Force X handle, the statement confirmed that the training aligns with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar’s focus on “deliberate training and mission-oriented force development.”

The exercise was designed to sharpen the skills of Regiment Special Operators in insertion and air assault operations, thereby increasing their capability to support surface forces in eliminating and denying terrorists and bandits the freedom of action.

The intensive programme featured rappelling drills, aircraft operations, range classification exercises, and tactical live shooting sessions. Operatives also engaged in a tactical assault simulation involving combat in built-up areas and hostage rescue operations, all aimed at improving firing accuracy, tactical mobility, and mission success rates.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal AA Shinkafi, expressed appreciation to the CAS for prioritising such capacity-building initiatives. He noted that the programme not only sharpened the proficiency of NAF’s special operators but also reinforced the Service’s commitment to safeguarding national security.

AVM Shinkafi commended the Commandant of the Regiment Training Centre, Air Commodore CO Olayera, along with his officers, airmen, and airwomen, for the seamless conduct of the exercise. He further assured participants of the CAS’s continued support for regiment training activities at the Centre.
