Renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United have officially informed RB Leipzig of their intention to submit a bid for Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško.
In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, Romano reported that United not only plan to lodge a formal offer but are also working to convince the 22-year-old forward that he is their top priority in the ongoing summer transfer window.
“Manchester United have informed RB Leipzig of their plan to bid for Benjamin Šeško — and to show him he’s their top target as new striker now,” Romano wrote. “Šeško will decide in the next days with Man United and Newcastle proposals on the table.”
Šeško, who has impressed in the Bundesliga with his physical presence, finishing ability, and technical prowess, has attracted interest from several top clubs this summer. Newcastle United are also reportedly in talks and remain keen on securing his signature, making it a two-way battle between Premier League rivals.
Manchester United, under the leadership of manager Erik ten Hag, are aiming to bolster their attacking options as part of a broader squad rebuild. With Anthony Martial’s future uncertain and concerns over squad depth, Šeško is seen as a long-term solution at the top of the pitch.
RB Leipzig are yet to officially respond to United’s notification, and no fee has been disclosed at this stage. However, it is expected that the German side will demand a significant sum for one of Europe’s most promising young strikers.
Šeško is now expected to make a decision in the coming days, weighing both sporting projects before determining his next move.
