A Lagos State Commissioner has announced the arrest of a 27-year-old man, Adamu Ismail, who was apprehended by officials of the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) for allegedly stealing a fence wire mesh at Peace Park, Ojota.
In a post on his X verified handle on Monday, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrest, noting that the suspect has since been handed over to the appropriate authorities for processing and prosecution.
“Acts of vandalism against public infrastructure will not be tolerated. These facilities belong to all of us, and protecting them is a shared responsibility,” Wahab said.
He added that the government remains committed to safeguarding public assets across Lagos, stressing that enforcement will continue “without compromise” to preserve infrastructure meant for communal use.
The arrest comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government to clamp down on vandalism and ensure the safety and sustainability of public facilities across the state.
