Governor Alex Otti isn’t here for premature political speculation. Speaking candidly, he pushed back against early talks about the 2027 elections, saying, “It’s too early to talk about 2027. That’s like playing God.”

The Abia State governor made this clear while addressing questions about future political plans. His message? There’s serious work to be done, and getting distracted by what happens in two years is not the priority.

“The people elected us to deliver results, not to start campaigning all over again,” Otti said. “We owe them performance. That should be our only focus.”

Since taking office under the Labour Party, Otti has been vocal about his administration’s focus on rebuilding infrastructure, improving healthcare, and reforming education in the state. To him, drifting into conversations about 2027 now is both irresponsible and disrespectful to the voters who gave him a mandate to lead.

He reminded Nigerians that the future isn’t something anyone can predict, saying, “Only God decides what happens tomorrow.”

With this statement, Otti is drawing a line. He’s saying: stay grounded, do the work, and let the results speak louder than ambition.
