Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has stepped down from his position as Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, saying the job simply didn’t offer him anything meaningful to do. In a candid interview with Arise TV, Baba-Ahmed said he felt sidelined from the start and never had the chance to make the kind of impact he hoped for.

He didn’t mince words. “I’m not someone who enjoys sitting around being idle,” he said. He expected to be involved in important discussions, shaping political decisions, and helping to guide national policy. But that opportunity never came.

Baba-Ahmed’s resignation points to a broader issue in government: assigning people titles without giving them real responsibilities. His decision to leave may strike a chord with other political figures who find themselves in similar positions—named advisers, but rarely advised or consulted. His exit is a quiet but firm statement about the need for purposeful public service.

Baba-Ahmed quit because he wasn’t given real work to do.

Didn’t he read his appointment letter. He was attached to the VP not the president
