Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, is shutting down what he calls baseless accusations. He’s made it clear that the APC is not the force behind the ongoing crisis tearing through the Peoples Democratic Party.

Appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Morka faced off with Kola Ologbondiyan, the former spokesperson of the PDP. During the conversation, Ologbondiyan claimed that recent defections from the PDP to the APC were not voluntary, but rather the result of threats and political pressure. He alleged that the ruling party has been intimidating opposition leaders into crossing over.

Morka wasn’t having any of it. He responded bluntly, saying that the defections are happening because the PDP is collapsing from within. According to him, no one is being forced to leave. Instead, politicians are choosing to move to the APC because the PDP no longer offers stability or purpose.

He argued that it’s easier for PDP leaders to point fingers than take responsibility for their internal failures. In his words, “People make political decisions for various reasons.” He insisted the APC has no interest in destabilizing the PDP because the opposition is doing a fine job of that on its own.

With defections mounting and political temperatures rising, both parties are locked in a narrative battle. For now, the APC is focused on defending its image while the PDP scrambles to keep its house from falling apart.

Both parties need to focus less on the blame and more on the real issues affecting Nigerians. Defections or not, the public deserves better leadership from all sides.
