An explosion has rocked the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area, Rivers State, triggering a fire in the affected section.
The cause of the blast remains unclear, but authorities are investigating whether it was an act of sabotage, especially amid recent threats from militant groups targeting oil infrastructure.
These threats have been linked to tensions surrounding the Federal Government’s withholding of Rivers State’s allocation due to the ongoing political crisis in the state.
The explosion reportedly occurred Monday night on the crucial export pipeline that transports crude oil to the Bonny Terminal.
