The Emir of Gombe, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Manga III, has passed away. He died on Friday, August 15, 2025.

The announcement was made on his verified X handle, where it was stated:
“Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un. We announce with deep sorrow the passing of Alhaji Abubakar Manga (Danmakonyon Gombe), who died today, Friday. His Janazah (funeral prayer) will take place by 5:30 PM at the Gombe Emir’s Palace. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.”

The late Emir, who ascended the throne as the third Emir of Gombe, was widely respected for his leadership, humility, and commitment to peace and development within the emirate. His passing has thrown the people of Gombe and the wider traditional institution into mourning.

Leaders from across Nigeria are expected to pay their respects at the Janazah prayer scheduled for 5:30 PM at the Gombe Emir’s Palace.
