The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arraignment of one Ahmed Gabriel Audu before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The announcement, made on the Commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, July 24, 2025, stated that Audu was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on alleged tampering with a forfeited property, an offence under the purview of the EFCC Act.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned one Ahmed Gabriel Audu before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos”, the post read. “Audu was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on alleged tampering with a forfeited property”, the Commission added.

According to the charge presented before the court, Audu is accused of unlawfully interfering with a property that had been legally forfeited to the Federal Government, an action deemed a violation of the court’s forfeiture order and a criminal offence punishable under existing anti-corruption laws.

The EFCC stressed that tampering with forfeited assets undermines the integrity of judicial processes and the ongoing fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Justice Osiagor ordered that the accused be remanded in EFCC custody, pending further hearing on the case. The matter was subsequently adjourned to a later date for trial proceedings.

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that forfeited assets remain protected from any form of illegal appropriation or misuse.

The case has attracted attention as part of the Commission’s broader efforts to enforce accountability and deter any acts that interfere with judicial orders concerning forfeited properties.
