Ebonyi Governor Suspends Three Commissioners Over Absenteeism

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended three commissioners for absenteeism during a crucial State Executive Council meeting.

The affected officials include Solomon Azi (Commissioner for Grants and Donor Agencies), Victor Chukwu (Commissioner for Environment), and Ikeuwa Omebe (Commissioner for Rural Development).

Their one-month suspension was announced following their absence from Monday’s Executive Council meeting without prior permission.

Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, confirmed the decision on Tuesday while briefing journalists on the meeting’s outcomes.

According to Okpor, Governor Nwifuru reiterated his zero-tolerance stance on absenteeism and a lax attitude toward public service duties.

As part of the suspension, the commissioners will be stripped of all privileges associated with their offices for the duration of the penalty.

Additionally, the governor issued a stern warning to contractors handling government projects, urging them to adhere strictly to contractual agreements. He emphasized that legal action would be taken against any contractor failing to meet project deadlines.
