Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, continues to blaze trails on the global stage as he sold out the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland during a stop on his 5IVE Alive Tour on August 5, 2025.

The electrifying performance drew an official crowd of 19,319 attendees, marking a historic milestone as Davido joins the list of artists to sell out the iconic venue.

The two-hour set was a celebration of his rich discography and global reach. Davido thrilled fans with back-to-back performances of fan favourites like “Risky,” “Fall,” “If,” “Unavailable,” and newer tracks from his latest project, blending infectious rhythms with his signature charisma.

Taking to the stage just after sundown, Davido’s performance featured dazzling visuals, live band support, and a roaring crowd that sang along to nearly every word. The energy was electric as fans from across the U.S. and beyond came together to witness a landmark moment for Afrobeats on American soil.

“This is more than just a show—this is history,” Davido declared midway through the concert, visibly emotional as he took in the moment. “We’re taking Afrobeats to the world, and the world is listening.”

The Merriweather Post Pavilion, located in Columbia, Maryland, has long been a premier venue for international artists, but never before had an African act achieved a full-capacity turnout—until now. The 19,319-seat sellout underscores Davido’s massive crossover appeal and the ever-growing global impact of African music.

The 5IVE Alive Tour is Davido’s latest international tour following the success of his “Timeless” album era. The tour has seen him perform in sold-out arenas across North America and Europe, further cementing his place among the top-tier global performers.

Fans and music industry professionals alike took to social media to celebrate the achievement, with hashtags like #DavidoSoldOutMaryland and #AfrobeatsToTheWorld trending shortly after the show.

With more stops ahead, Davido’s historic Merriweather performance is not just a personal milestone—it’s a defining moment for Afrobeats on the world stage.
