President Bola Tinubu has officially flagged off the construction of the 125-kilometer Benin-Asaba highway, a project expected to be completed within 30 months. The President was represented at the event by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.

Governor Okpebholo described the project as a legacy infrastructure, emphasizing that Edo State is rapidly advancing in development. He noted that Edo serves as a gateway to the nation and stressed the economic impact of improved road networks.

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, praised Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to infrastructural development, highlighting how the state has transformed into a construction hub in less than 150 days. He also commended the flyover project at Ramat Park in Benin City, initiated under the governor’s leadership.

Finance Minister Wale Edun assured that the funds for the project are readily available, guaranteeing smooth execution from start to finish.

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, thanked President Tinubu for prioritizing the highway and called for an extension to the Onitsha Bridge. He emphasized that the road is crucial for linking the Eastern and Western regions and urged stakeholders to support its timely completion.
