Nigerian comedian Kevin Chinedu Arua, popularly known as Kevinblak, on September 8, 2025, released a satirical skit that has since gone viral, sparking nationwide debate on corruption and accountability.
In the video, Kevinblak plays his recurring character, Governor Anuneke, who awards a fictitious ₦1 billion contract to Engineer Sabinus for the construction of an “ultra-modern” hospital in the imaginary town of Olaniye. Instead of delivering the project, the funds are shown being squandered on a life of luxury, exposing the cycle of mismanagement and abandoned infrastructure projects that mirrors real-life scandals across Africa.
The skit, which quickly racked up over 6,500 likes on X, resonated with viewers who linked the satire to ongoing conversations about public sector transparency and governance failures.
Its release comes against the backdrop of heightened political tension following a confrontation between activist Omoyele Sowore and the Department of State Services (DSS). The clash stemmed from a controversial post by Sowore on X, in which he levelled strong allegations against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The matter reportedly prompted intervention by X’s legal team after being contacted by the DSS.
Kevinblak’s comedy, while light-hearted in delivery, has ignited serious conversations among Nigerians about how public funds are managed and the urgent need for reform.
