President Donald Trump’s attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities has drawn harsh criticism from Senator Bernie Sanders, who has called it “grossly unconstitutional” and called for an end to the United States’ involuntary involvement in other conflicts.
He referenced President Donald Trump’s remarks over the successful attack on Iran in a video while speaking to the crowd.
Sanders responded, “I want to tell you something: not only is this news that I’ve just heard alarming, but it is just grossly unconstitutional. All of you know that the only entity that can take this country to war is the U.S. Congress. The president does not have the right”.
Sanders’ audacious denunciation strengthens the argument that any military action by the U.S. in Iran must first undergo a necessary legislative vote. His call for caution, which is supported by a number of people who are becoming more outspoken, emphasises the pressing discussion about executive power and democratic responsibility as tensions rise in the Middle East.
