Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, CFR.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 1, 2025, via his official X handle, the governor described Arase’s passing as a painful loss to the nation, the Nigeria Police Force, and Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Eno noted that Arase, who served as the 18th Inspector General of Police, left a legacy of reforms that strengthened intelligence gathering and crime prevention in Nigeria. He further recalled that Arase had once served Akwa Ibom as Commissioner of Police, where his dedication contributed significantly to the peace and security enjoyed in the state.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, the Nigeria Police Force, friends, and associates,” the governor wrote. “Even in retirement, as Chairman of the Police Service Commission, he continued to serve our nation with commitment. May his soul rest in peace.”
The late IGP Solomon Arase, remembered for his distinguished career and commitment to public service, is being mourned across the country as tributes continue to pour in.
