Airtel Africa has signed a landmark deal with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet to nine of its 14 African markets. The rollout aims to dramatically improve internet access in remote and underserved areas across the continent.
The partnership marks a major step forward for digital inclusion, with Starlink’s satellite technology promising fast, low-latency internet even in regions with poor infrastructure.
“This collaboration with SpaceX allows us to expand internet access to millions of Africans who have long been left out of the digital economy,” said Airtel Africa CEO, Segun Ogunsanya.
Countries included in the initial rollout are Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, and five others, with more markets expected to follow.
The deal positions Airtel Africa as a key player in bridging the continent’s connectivity gap, supporting everything from education and healthcare to business and innovation.
