AC Milan have officially confirmed the signing of Ecuadorian left-back Pervis Estupiñan from Brighton & Hove Albion for a total fee of €19 million, becoming the first Ecuadorian player in the club’s storied history.

The announcement was made through the club’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, where Milan proudly posted: “History made. Estupiñan is our first Ecuadorian.”

A follow-up statement on the club’s official website read:
“AC Milan is delighted to announce that Pervis Estupiñan has joined the Club on a permanent basis from Brighton & Hove Albion FC. The Ecuadorian defender has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2030. Pervis Estupiñan will wear the number 2 shirt.”

The deal reportedly includes €17 million upfront and €2 million in performance-related add-ons, with Estupiñan signing a five-year contract that ties him to the San Siro until 2030.

Estupiñan, 27, brings pace, experience, and attacking flair to Milan’s left flank, further strengthening the defensive options under manager Paulo Fonseca as the Rossoneri aim to contend on both domestic and European fronts.

Born in Esmeraldas, Ecuador, on January 21, 1998, Estupiñan began his football journey with LDU Quito, debuting for the first team in 2015 and making 45 appearances. He then ventured to Europe, joining Spanish sides Granada, Almería, Mallorca, and Osasuna, before earning a move to Villarreal, where he enjoyed notable success—winning the UEFA Europa League and making 74 appearances.

In 2022, he transferred to Brighton & Hove Albion, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the Premier League with 104 appearances and five goals across competitions.

Internationally, Estupiñan has become a mainstay for the Ecuadorian national team, earning 48 caps and scoring four goals since his debut in 2019.

With this signing, AC Milan not only bolster their squad but also deepen their South American presence, breaking new ground by welcoming their first Ecuadorian player—a move seen as both strategic and symbolic in expanding the club’s global reach.
