Former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has met with the leadership of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, under the chairmanship of Oba Oladipo Olaitan. The meeting, which took place on September 16, 2025, also involved discussions with representatives of PANDEF and the Middle Belt Forum, over which Oba Olaitan currently presides as leader of the ethnic nationalities coalition.
In a statement shared on his verified X handle on September 17, 2025, Obi expressed gratitude to the group for their consistent advocacy on justice, fairness, and national unity.
“I sincerely thank them for their courage in always standing for fearless justice and the unity of our country, and I urge them not to relent,” he stated.
According to Obi, the deliberations focused on pressing national issues, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation. He described the discussions as productive and timely, given the challenges facing the nation.
Reaffirming his stance on inclusive governance, Obi emphasised his commitment to building a united Nigeria where no region or group would be marginalised.
“I remain committed to an all-inclusive, united Nigeria where no part will be left behind,” he concluded.
The meeting highlights ongoing consultations by political leaders and socio-cultural organisations toward addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges and strengthening national cohesion.
