Brighton youngster Tommy Watson has received a call-up to the England U21 squad following an impressive summer that attracted attention from abroad.
According to football expert Fabrizio Romano, the highly rated talent was the subject of bids during the transfer window, but Brighton turned down approaches as the club views him as an integral part of their plans.
Portuguese giants FC Porto made a late enquiry over Watson’s availability, but Brighton were unwilling to sanction a move, confident the player has a significant role to play in the squad this season.
Watson’s development continues to be closely watched, and his inclusion in the England U21 set-up marks another step forward in his promising career.
