The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to driving reforms and strengthening institutional performance across agencies under his supervision.

As a way of updating Nigerians after the Mid-2025/Tenure Sectorial Performance Retreat yesterday, which brought together the ministry and its agencies for a comprehensive review, Tunji-Ojo highlighted the successes recorded in recent years and outlined fresh targets under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a post on X, the minister stated:
“As it is our tradition, we met, again, today to review our processes and strategies at the Mid Tenure/2025 Sectorial Performance Retreat. Taking into consideration all agencies under the ministry, we audited our systems and examined all critical actions and reforms we have embarked on over the last two years.”

He listed key achievements including reforms in passport and visa services, rollout of the new e-CERPAC system, and the establishment of the Mining Marshals, which he said had prevented significant losses. He also cited progress in optimizing the fire service, easing congestion in correctional facilities, and advancing non-custodial measures.

On national identity management, the minister noted ongoing efforts to expand coverage of Nigeria’s national database, ensuring more citizens and households are captured.

Tunji-Ojo further appreciated the presence of Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, who attended the retreat and expressed confidence in the ministry’s efforts.

“Again, we have set new targets and new heights for ourselves towards the development of our great country, and we invite the public to join us on this journey of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Indeed, we have moved from plans to results, and we are determined to strengthen institutional performance across agencies under our ministry,” he said.

The retreat, which reviewed reforms and strategies undertaken over the past two years, also served as a platform to chart the course for further improvements in service delivery across the ministry’s key sectors.
