The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has emphasised that Nigeria, like other nations, views law as an instrument of social engineering, serving as a safeguard for sovereignty and a mechanism for strengthening institutions against abuse.

He made the remark on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, while receiving administrators of the National Judicial Institute (NJI), recently appointed and led by Hon. Justice B. A. Adejumo (OFR), during a courtesy visit to explore areas of collaboration with the Ministry of Interior in his office.

Reaffirming the ministry’s commitment, Tunji-Ojo assured the delegation of his readiness to work with institutions and stakeholders dedicated to advancing national growth, prosperity, and social justice.

“As always, I assured the team of our readiness and openness to work with relevant stakeholders that have demonstrated goodwill towards contributing to the greater Nigerian project of growth and national prosperity, where the integrity of citizens are protected, and lives and property are secured,” he stated.

The visit focused on strengthening synergy between the Ministry of Interior and the NJI in pursuit of institutional reforms, national security, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
