Manchester City are closing in on a potential blockbuster signing, as Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi “Gigio” Donnarumma has agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions. The 26-year-old is reportedly eager to work under Pep Guardiola as City prepare for a crucial transition in goal.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who confirmed the update on his X handle on August 24, 2025, negotiations are progressing between Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, though the transfer fee is yet to be finalized. PSG are holding out for a figure close to their initial €50 million valuation, while City are pushing for a lower deal.
Romano added that the move ultimately hinges on Éderson’s departure this summer, with Turkish giants Galatasaray strongly interested in signing the Brazilian shot-stopper.
Should the deal go through, Donnarumma would become one of City’s marquee summer signings, further strengthening their squad depth as they aim to defend both domestic and European titles in the 2025/26 season.
