Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, declared open the top Management Retreat of the Federal Ministry of Justice in Ikot Ekpene, with the theme “Embracing Innovation for Justice Excellence.”
In a statement posted on his verified X handle, Governor Eno underscored the need for Nigeria’s justice sector to adopt digital solutions to ensure timely, transparent, and efficient service delivery. He highlighted the importance of e-filing, virtual hearings, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology in speeding up trials, decongesting prisons, and strengthening public confidence in the judicial system.
The Governor noted that Akwa Ibom has already taken steps toward e-governance through the creation of a Ministry of Science and Digital Economy, the development of digital case management systems, provision of technology-driven evidence rooms, and plans for forensic laboratories and the Office of the Public Defender.
He commended the Federal Ministry of Justice for choosing Akwa Ibom as host for the retreat and encouraged participants to witness firsthand the state’s strides under the ARISE Agenda.
