The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has strongly condemned the actions of some officers caught in a viral video attempting to forcibly remove a motorist’s glasses during a stop-and-search operation and subsequently assaulting him. The officers involved have been confirmed as personnel attached to the Lagos State Police Command.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Friday, the Force disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, had been briefed and had immediately taken steps to ensure that the erring officers face appropriate disciplinary measures. He also ordered a restructuring of the squad involved in the incident.
The NPF further assured the public that the act was an isolated case and does not represent the standards of professionalism expected of its personnel. The leadership reiterated its commitment to holding errant officers accountable while upholding the integrity of the many dedicated and responsible officers serving across the country.
