Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday received the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on her first official visit to Lagos State, describing her mission as one that brings hope and empowerment to thousands of residents.
In a statement posted on his verified X handle, Governor Sanwo-Olu said it was an honour to welcome the First Lady, noting that her engagements in the state underscore her commitment to the welfare of women, children, and families across the country.
“It was a pleasure to receive and welcome the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on her first official visit to Lagos,” the Governor wrote.
According to the Governor, the First Lady will on Friday present empowerment items to more than 1,000 women at the State House in Alausa, Ikeja.
She is also expected to inaugurate the Lagos Industrial Leather Hub in Matori, Mushin — described as the largest of its kind in West Africa. The hub is designed to strengthen local manufacturing, boost exports, and create jobs within the leather value chain.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged Lagos residents to welcome the First Lady warmly, noting that her initiatives bring “practical support to those who need them most.”
“Her visit is a reminder of her deep commitment to the welfare of women, children, and families across Nigeria. It also reflects the values we in Lagos share — unity, inclusion, and development that touches every life,” he said.
The visit marks the First Lady’s continued drive to empower women and promote socio-economic development nationwide, with Lagos serving as a key host for her programmes.
