Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 47 suspected internet fraudsters in Edo State, recovering a pump-action rifle and live cartridges from one of the suspects.
According to a statement posted on the Commission’s official X handle, the arrests were carried out on Friday, August 15, 2025, following credible intelligence linking the suspects to various fraudulent internet activities.
In addition to the firearm, operatives also recovered six vehicles, several mobile phones, and laptop computers during the operation.
The EFCC stated that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
