Public Relations (PR) officers from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have participated in the 19th International Public Relations Congress, a leading global forum for communication experts, industry leaders, and thought innovators.

According to a statement posted on the NAF’s official X handle, the three-day congress, held from August 12 to 14, 2025, was themed “Leveraging Public Relations Best Practice to Rebuild Trust, Deliver Mandate & Promote Peace for Economic Sustainable Development.” The event drew participants from across Africa and beyond, creating a platform for sharing knowledge on strategic communication and bridging trust gaps in the PR profession.

NAF officers engaged actively in keynote sessions, workshops, and panel discussions covering critical topics such as crisis communication, countering misinformation, and fostering peace through community engagement.

The Air Force statement released was quoted as saying:

“Our mandate goes beyond defending the skies. We must also win hearts, communicate effectively, and build trust with the communities we serve. Public relations is a critical part of that mission.”

A joint panel highlighted the synergy between military expertise and civilian PR insights, with an NAF officer sharing the stage with an international peacebuilding consultant to discuss the role of storytelling and transparency in promoting unity and stability.

“For the Nigerian Air Force, this congress is more than an event; it is an opportunity to align global PR best practices with operational realities in safeguarding the nation. By strengthening its communication capabilities, the NAF reinforces its role not only as the ‘People’s Air Force’ but also as a proactive partner in building trust, peace, and sustainable development across Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
