FC Barcelona’s board has approved a €7 million personal guarantee to La Liga in a bid to ease budgetary constraints and secure player registrations ahead of the new season, according to Barça Times.
The decision, spearheaded by club president Joan Laporta, aims to both address a budget deviation and increase the salary cap, ensuring compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations. The measure is particularly critical for meeting La Liga’s 1:1 spending rule, which requires clubs to match every euro spent with an equal amount in revenue or savings.
The financial maneuver will enable Barcelona to register all new signings before the league’s deadline, a move viewed as essential to maintaining squad stability for the upcoming campaign.
Club sources indicate that the strategy may also open the door for additional registrations if goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury is deemed long-term by La Liga’s Medical Commission—allowing part of his salary to be used for further squad adjustments.
This step is the latest in a series of financial balancing acts by Barcelona, as the club continues to navigate economic challenges while aiming to remain competitive domestically and in Europe.
