Liverpool Football Club is preparing a sensational £120 million bid for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, following the completed sale of Luis Díaz, according to sources close to the Merseyside club.
A renowned football expert, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) on July 27, 2025, that:
“Liverpool are prepared to go big for Alexander Isak after Luis Diaz sale done. Isak, keen on the move and not even in talks with Saudi clubs. Only Liverpool. Up to Newcastle now, with #LFC waiting but ready to enter strong with record proposal,” Romano wrote.
The Reds are moving swiftly to reinvest the funds from Díaz’s high-profile departure as they seek to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season. Romano hints that Isak has emerged as Liverpool’s top priority, with manager Arne Slot viewing the Swedish forward as an ideal long-term solution to lead the line at Anfield.
The 25-year-old striker, who scored 21 Premier League goals last season, is reportedly keen on the move to Liverpool and has no interest in entertaining offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, despite lucrative approaches. Isak sees Liverpool as the perfect platform to compete at the highest level in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Negotiations are expected to accelerate in the coming days, with Liverpool willing to break their transfer record to secure the former Real Sociedad man. The Reds have monitored Isak for several seasons and are now ready to move decisively.
Newcastle United, while reluctant to sell one of their prized assets, may be forced to consider the offer due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) pressures and their ongoing squad rebuild.
If completed, Isak’s signing would mark a statement of intent from Liverpool, signaling a new era under Slot and reaffirming the club’s ambitions for silverware. Fans will be eagerly awaiting developments as the Reds aim to complete the blockbuster move before the end of the transfer window.
