The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing war against violent crime, neutralizing three armed bandits and recovering ten AK-47 rifles during a series of intelligence-led operations across five states. This development was disclosed in a press release issued on the Force’s official X (formerly Twitter) account by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

According to the statement, the operations were carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger States throughout the month of July.

The successful raids followed a coordinated tactical offensive targeting armed criminal syndicates responsible for kidnappings, armed robberies, gunrunning, cattle rustling, and other violent crimes across the Middle Belt and North-Central regions of the country.

During several armed encounters, three bandits were fatally subdued after engaging operatives in fierce gunfire exchanges. According to police reports, the bandits attempted to flee upon sighting the security forces but were met with a strategic and overwhelming response. Others escaped into the bush with gunshot wounds, abandoning their weapons in the process.

Ten AK-47 rifles were recovered at various crime scenes, with forensic tracing linking the weapons to multiple violent crimes across the regions. The Police noted that follow-up tactical operations are already underway to track and apprehend the fleeing syndicate members believed to be the masterminds of deadly attacks on rural communities.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, in response to the successful operations, reiterated the Force’s unwavering commitment to upholding national security and eradicating threats to peace and stability across Nigeria.

“The Nigeria Police Force will continue to sustain and intensify intelligence-led operations to dismantle all criminal enterprises,” IGP Egbetokun declared. “We remain resolute in our constitutional duty to protect life and property across the country.”

The IGP also called on citizens to remain vigilant and support law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities to nearby police formations or through official communication channels.

As efforts continue to build on this success, the Nigeria Police reaffirmed that it will not relent in pursuing justice and restoring safety in communities plagued by criminal violence.
