United States President Donald J. Trump has announced that Cambodia and Thailand are moving toward an immediate ceasefire and renewed peace talks, following what he described as “a very good call” with the Prime Minister of Cambodia and updates on his discussions with Thailand’s Acting Prime Minister.

Trump made the announcement on his “Trump Truth Social Posts on X” (formerly Twitter) platform, sharing details of his diplomatic efforts to mediate between the two Southeast Asian nations amid recent border tensions.

“Just had a very good call with the Prime Minister of Cambodia. I informed him of my discussions with Thailand, and its Acting Prime Minister. Both Parties are looking for an immediate Ceasefire and Peace,” Trump wrote.

“They are also looking to get back to the ‘Trading Table’ with the United States, which I think is inappropriate to do until such time as the fighting stops,” he added.

Trump further stated that both Cambodia and Thailand had agreed to meet immediately and quickly work out a ceasefire, with the broader goal of restoring long-term peace. He commended both countries for their willingness to come to the table, saying:

“It was an Honor to deal with both Countries. They have a long and storied History and Culture. They will hopefully get along for many years to come.”

The president emphasized that once a peaceful resolution is secured, he looks forward to resuming trade negotiations between the United States and both countries.

“When all is done, and Peace is at hand, I look forward to concluding our Trading Agreements with both,” he wrote.

While Trump currently holds no official position in the U.S. government, his involvement in international diplomacy has drawn widespread attention and sparked speculation about his influence in global affairs, especially as he continues to campaign ahead of the upcoming U.S. presidential elections.

Officials from Cambodia and Thailand have yet to release their own statements on the proposed ceasefire and peace talks.
